5mm Wire Rope Grips DIN1142

After many years we found a top quality manufacturer of reliable wire rope grips, manufactured to the industrial standard DIN1142

Wire rope grips have a host of nick names and may also be known as wire rope clamps or dog clamps.

They are typically used to create a loop at the end of a piece if wire to clamp it to another wire, or to suspend a product such as a feeder of drinker. The clamp consists of a U-Bolt with a Saddle secured by two nuts.

What wire rope can I secure with these 5mm clamps?

5mm Grips can be used to join 3mm wire rope to 5mm wire rope, and also 3mm wire rope to 5mm drinker cord.

Can I secure 5mm wire to 5mm wire?

We would recommend to go up a size and use 6.5mm wire rope grips, see code 28065.

How do I use rope  grips?

• Ideally 3 grips per join should be used
• The U-bolt must always be placed on the load bearing side of the joint to avoid crushing the rope
• Tighten the rope grip before the rope is put under tension
• After load has been applied tighten the grips further to ensure maximum grip
• Grips should be spaced 5 to 6 times the rope diameter, for example space the 25 to 30mm apart on 5mm wire rope

What is the size of the nut on these 5mm grips?

The nut is 8mm, we have a nut spinner which is ideal for the job if you are just doing a few, see item 44008. We also have a range of JCB and Hyundai power tools should your task be a little bigger.
