Float valves, also called ballcocks, are essential to regulating fluid levels in tanks. These devices come in two parts – a spherical, hollow ball that attaches to a lever or arm to the valve. Dalton Engineering sells these parts separately, so make sure you have both pieces!

The function behind a float valve is relatively simple. The floating ball moves with the water’s surface in the tank and then activates the valve when it hits a specific limit. A broken float valve can quickly lead to untimely flooding.
